Ildánach is an irish word that means ‘many skilled.’ This word is often associated with the ancient irish king and hero Lugh. It is told that when Nuada once again became king after recovering from grave injury, he called out for Ireland’s most talented to come to the royal court of the high king in Tara. Lugh was delayed and came late, after the leaders in many fields had already arrived. The door keeper at court barred his way, asking what unique skill he brought. Lugh told them that he was a poet, a swordsman, a champion, a smith, a wright, a sorcerer, an historian, a healer, a cup bearer and a brazier. But, already, the court had the foremost experts in each of these fields. So Lugh asked, if the King had anyone serving them who had all of those skills combined. After a consult, Lugh was admitted to the court.
In my own career, I have been a cook, a security guard, a deli slicer, a lock smith, a project manager, a corporate executive, a cybersecurity SME, a committee head, a salesman, a systems engineer, a mechanical and a care provider. We have started our growth in Shenandoah as a landlord, bringing our Cybersecurity company into operation in the HUBZone here in town. We are hoping to expand and help bring the downtown back to life, and to bring our community together on front street. We hope that having all those skills gets us invited into all the most exciting opportunities going forward.
